The BAL-550 is a balanced to unbalanced line transformer designed for operation down to 20 kHz. It also provides galvanic isolation between input and output.
Three universal binding posts accept the balanced line (two wires and a shield) from the depth sounder. The unbalanced and isolated output is a BNC connector.
If you are testing larger sounders, a BAL-550 makes the hook-up easy and foolproof. The BAL-550 rejects noise pickup and properly loads the depth sounder's transmitter.
Receiver sensitivity and output voltage measurements are more accurate using the BAL-550.
This balun is used to connect depth sounders to the DSTS-4A , DSTS-5A, and DSTS-5A/2C Chirp depth sounder test sets.
